Don’t Like Opposing Viewpoints

People apparently like to be preached to. In a study, people chose to listen to information that aligned with their own ideas versus other information on a 2:1 margin.

It makes sense – if a teacher is exciting the first time, but then is not as innovative after, people will still cling to their idea that the teacher is more interesting and innovative than other teachers. Hence the idea that first impressions are very important.

I always like to hear opposing viewpoints, as it allows me to see if my thoughts are actually correct, or if they need to be modified in some way.
