I was very pleased by the WWDC keynote early this morning. Rather than save the important stuff for the end of the speech, all the important things (new Macbooks at lower prices, and Mac OS 10.6 info) was given at the beginning of the presentation.
I certainly can’t complain that I will get to pay over 10,000NT less for a better 17” Macbook once they get here. Apple claims the machines need to be tested for EMF radiation before they can go on sale here (supposedly a 4-5 week wait in the case of the one I tried to configure). Until then, if I didn’t mind getting something glossy, I could save even more on a closeout model.
Of course, the best news of all is the fact that 10.6 will only be a $29US upgrade. If Microsoft wants to complain Macs are expensive, they now have nothing to stand on. Even a basic Windows upgrade costs over 100USD, and more like 300USD for something that is equivalent to Mac OS 10.6 in functionality terms.
