Upon reading this article, I was reminded about Bhutan’s Gross National Happiness.
I was curious what exactly goes into Bhutan’s happiness standard, and I found this explanation. If one goes deeper into the site, they can find that a person is deprived of happiness if they work more than 7 hours a day or sleep less than 8 hours a day. There is also a minimum value for earnings that is important to happiness in the survey.
It should be noted that one should earn a certain minimum amount of money to be happy, but working long hours for more pay does not bring more happiness. Those cases seem to be people illuding themselves that they are getting more happiness than they actually have.
