Boss Hog strikes again…
I have previously mentioned the extremely destructive way certain pigs are raised.
The New York Times had an article today about how Smithfield moved a lot of the destruction to Poland and Eastern Europe once they could no longer get away flouting morals in the USA.
I am constantly reminded of this company when I walk in the underground mall between Zhongxiao Dunhua and Zhongxiao Fuxing on the Taipei MRT Blue line. There are a number of restaurants selling items with pig meat. The ventilation is inadequate, being underground, and I wonder if the stench is not unlike that of being near a Smithfield Farm.
The only benefit to walking through the food area of the underground mall is that I get to practice holding my breath for a long period of time. I am not able to make it completely through the stench area at a walking pace though.
