Eddy’s Cantina, Danshui
A lot of people in Taiwan seem to rave about a Mexican restaurant in Danshui as being the best in Taiwan. It was the other main motivation to make the trip to Danshui yesterday. One way I would be able to keep away in the future, lest I want to return to Danshui, is to have too much of a good thing.
Or something with a lot of dairy products, which my body doesn’t take to well. In order, a burrito, a quesadilla plate, and the Burro de Cajeta (basically an ice cream burrito with caramel inside). The drink is an horchata.
I overheard somebody at another table saying she wishes she could go to Del Taco (a western Mexican-style fast food chain in the USA). I would agree. Del Taco is 10x better. They give a lot more guacamole at one time than small little dishes. The sour cream is actually sour there, for people that like it, and the cost is considerably less.
Maybe people are so fed up with all the Taiwanese food that they have that they think this is good Mexican food. Spicy? Not at all.
For what it is worth, even with the lack of guacamole, I’d consider Yuma Southwestern Grill in Taipei to have tastier fare, even if it is a bit less authentic. Nonetheless, they did have lots of cards for nearby restaurants, one of which I did enjoy quite a bit. More on that tomorrow.
