17” MacBook Screen

I finally saw a 17”unibody MacBook on display. The screen looked fairly dim for a new computer, especially considering it was a glossy model. Matte screens tend to be a little less bright since some of the light from the panel gets filtered out, not just the light coming in from unwanted sources.

Hence, for now, I have no real motivation to buy a new laptop, even if it were a slightly useful thing to have. Only the MacBook Air has a decently bright screen, but it does not have enough USB ports or even a standard Ethernet port. The regular 13” MacBook, even if I added a matte finish to the screen, suffers from poor viewing angles and also is not nearly as bright as the MacBook Air.

Companies need to realise that if they want people to buy their products, they should be desirable. Particularly in Taiwan, there is not a single laptop that meets my current or future needs.
