元旦快樂！ Happy New Year!
I noticed a park-like area that seemed to be located well and had few people inside. It was guarded, but I was able to walk in without a ticket. I got a number of nice shots during the short 188 seconds of fireworks. Take a look:
Nonetheless, the thing that captured my fancy most was a far simpler display of sparklers. Somebody decided to light a bunch of sparklers on a shrub in front of the Hyatt Hotel. The shrub didn’t look too good after, but it was more exciting to watch than the fireworks being shot off the sides of the 101 building.
Next year, I think I will view the fireworks from the observatory inside the 101 if it is allowed, and if the fireworks will occur again. After all, I have seen the fireworks up close and from far away. Now I just need to get pictures of the fireworks going off right outside the windows I would want to watch it from. While this year did not have Toyota logos defacing the 101 building, the fireworks themselves were better last year, even though I viewed them halfway across Taipei. The walk was better than taking the MRT, especially on the way back.
