Bike Repairs

I have been fixing up some people’s bikes here, particularly a bunch of shifters that broke. It has caused me to look into something I hadn’t had to do before – how to get the handlebar grips off non destructively.

Most bike shops I’ve been to in the past take the grips off destructively or with air pressure applied to the tube – something not an option for me. Apparently Lemon Furniture Polish also can do the trick. The ingredients in Lemon Furniture Polish seem very similar to WD-40, but it smells a bit better. I say apparently, because the grip is moving around loosely at the moment after repairs. I guess the furniture polish has to dry up before the grips will stay in one place again.
