Ali Baba, El Cajon, California
Previously having enjoyed Baghdad Nights in San Francisco, I wanted to try what was apparently the most authentic Iraqi restaurant within California – Ali Baba.
Apparently authentic Iraqi food doesn’t work out to well for vegetarians, since the only thing besides salad I could eat on the menu was falafel. For croutons on the salad, pieces of fried pita bread were used. Portions were huge.
The falafel did not come with any hommus, just plain, so I had to order some. The portion was easily twice the size one can buy in supermarkets here.
The coffee was not as strong as it was at Baghdad Nights. Then again, I might just be used to it.
