The Chinese Olympic Committee made icons for all the sports that are designed to look like actual Chinese characters.

I am not sure if this is a new idea from the 1988 Olympics or a result of the Chinese pictographs, but there are Hangul (Korean Alphabet) sport pictographs floating around now.
Korea is doing awesome at this point third place in overall medals, second in golds. If the USA didn’t have Phelps, Korea would be in second place. Korea is second only to China in the number of gold medals at this point. No matter if this is payback for North Korea not wanting to do a joint march during the opening ceremony or simply a strong start, I don’t know. Good on them.
