One of my favourite fake Mexican restaurants are apparently making a go at Mexico again. They failed trying to push their food as authentic Mexican food back in 1992. This time they are telling Mexicans that their food is not Mexican food, that it is something else. Good for them, it will probably be successful.

However, for atmosphere, I don’t think I’ve been to a Taco Bell better than the one in Shanghai (near People’s Square). Chinese waitresses wearing Mexican cowboy hats and clothing, making them look kind of Tibetan. No 7-layer burritos though, so the food still has a ways to go. Wonder if they will ever spread to Korea. All the so-called Mexican restaurants here get their supplies from the same place I do (Costco) and charge at least 5x as much as it costs to do it myself.

  1. Soy Delicious translates into something relevant in Spanish, so it might make for an in interesting Mexican restaurant name.
