陽明山 Yangming Mountain
Yesterday I finally made a visit to 陽明山, which is a National Park to the north of Taipei. In the summer, it would allow me to see awesome views of the city from certain spots. Right now, it is extremely foggy. There were many places I could not see more than 10 meters in any direction because of the density of the fog. That same fog reminded me of some video games, with the hazy background. But what I saw was real.
The elevation in some places meant few animals and no insects – so it was eerily quiet, kind of like up high on Mt. Fuji. However, all the places I went to had an abundance of plants (high up on Mt. Fuji is almost entirely volcanic rock).
The air quality was awesome – the kind of air that is so clean it causes all the accumulated pollution from inside my own lungs to come out.
It was very peaceful, and allowed for a bit of meditation. It also allowed me to get a good workout. I went well beyond the area most people that get there by bus visit. I climbed to the peaks of four different mountains, including Mt. Datun. If I ever live in Taipei, I would definitely visit this park quite often.
