As it turns out, while most Cherry Blossoms appear in April in Japan (or much earlier if you are in Okinawa), there are still cherry blossoms that bloom in late autumn. I happened to see some of these while in Mito. Mito seems like it would be an ideal spot for Hanami (Cherry Blossom Viewing), as it has one of the most famous Botanical Gardens in Japan. By the time I got there, it was too dark… so I will have to visit again!

The Imperial Gardens in Tokyo also apparently have these very late-blooming Cherry Blossoms. I will have to visit there too. While not my New Year’s Resolution, it is related and part of the fortune I will work to make come true this year.

Happy New Year!
